Health Effects From Stress in the Workplace

You are sitting at your desk with tons of deadlines to meet, and you feel like you are drowning in your work. You know the consequences of being late meeting your deadline, your supervisor will chew you out and based on how often this occurs, your job could be on the line. You look at the clock after pushing out document after document and realize that you are an hour and a half away from your deadline and you feel panic. You begin to rationalize ways to explain being late instead of finishing your workload, you have started to focus on the negative. This is the kind of stress that can have a severe negative impact on your mental and physical health.


A Harris poll was conducted for the APA on the statistics of stress in the workplace. What is a Harris poll? The study is a web base of online surveys that collect various forms of information for national databases. According to a Google search, it has operated since 1963 in conducting studies and polls on different subject areas. The site is open, and it is free to join the survey site, a participant can be as young as thirteen years old.

The following statistics are the ones that we found were the most interesting from the study:

  • 8 in 10 Americans are afflicted by stress
  • 79% Americans feel stress sometimes or frequently in their daily lives
  • 4 in 10 U.S Adults (41%) say they lack sufficient time to do all they want
  • 80% of working people feel stress on the job and half of them need help in managing stress
  • 65% of working people said that workplace stress had caused difficulties and more than 10% described these as having major effects
  • Americans stress level, on a 10-point scale has increased from 4.8 to 5.1 between August 2016 and January 2017

Information Collection - If you spend most of your time calling clients or customers to collect specific information, we can take that off your plate. We will assist you with reaching out to those that need contact, and we will qualify them by asking all the questions you need answers to.

Calendar Management - The next step, once we qualify a candidate for you will be to schedule an appointment on your calendar. We will manage your calendar by scheduling appointments when you want to see them. If you have consumers that travel to your office, we will set up time slots based on your preferences, and we will schedule within those parameters to make sure you have a productive day. We will handle all additional correspondence as well. If the client needs to reschedule, they can call us. If they need to ask a few questions about their appointment, they can call us, and we will give them the information that they need to know!
